Release and reception
The film was released in India on 28 February 2008. It was received extremely well by critics. Writing for Rediff.com, Joginder Tuteja rated it 8 out of 10, calling it "a perfect example of a great family film". Joginder Tuteja also wrote that the dialogues are written in such a way that they become part of the character and give a positive spin to the story.
Filmfare's critic Saibal Chatterjee rated it 4 out of 5 stars, praising the acting of Manisha Koirala, Irrfan Khan, Mukesh Rishi and Kalpana Azmi. He said that the film is "a pleasant family entertainer, well made and most importantly, a film that is not bogged down by political correctness or downright stupidity".
Behindwoods rated the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and called it "an entertainer for the family". The movie received mixed reviews from critics.
